Renewable Energy
We support renewable energy by purchasing 100% of the electricity consumed by production of our natural cereals from Windsource®* and Blue Sky℠. Since 2006, we’ve purchased more than 7 million kilowatt hours of renewable wind energy, a benefit equal to taking nearly 1,000 cars off the road!
Reduce
We have active programs at our plants to reduce energy and minimize water use. Since 1996, our Northfield, Minnesota plant has reduced the amount of water used to make cereals by 41% and we’ve reduced our energy use by 10%.
Between 2008 – 2009, our Utah plant reduced water usage equivalent to conserving more than 7.8 million gallons. That equals 18 football fields covered with a foot of water!
All of this adds up to millions of gallons of water and KWh of energy saved through creative conservation.
Recycle/Re-Use
We have many recycling programs throughout our company. More than 95% of waste materials are recycled at our Minnesota plant**. Our cartons are made from 100% recycled paperboard, with a minimum of 35% post consumer content, and the boxes are printed with vegetable –based inks.
Community Service
“MOM Cares” is an employee funded foundation that has given over 90 grants to help others in our community.
